Greetings!
We had a very fun and successful charity breakfast attended by over 50 early birds. This was the most successful Holiday Breakfast to date and brought in $3,460. This amount will be split between the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter and Rachel's Women's Center after giving $500 to the Girl Scouts of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all our generous Sponsors and those who brought a raffle prize that day! I want to give a special thanks to Cheena Malicki from ICW, our Holiday Chair, for pulling off this very fun and successful event. Unfortunately Cheena was sick that day and so by default I became the Master of Ceremonies. But Cheena still came early that day and set up the room and the beautiful centerpieces. Thank you again Cheena and her volunteers: Betsy Johnson from ICW, who donated the pointettias; Cathryn Milazzo from Sullivan Insurance Brokers; Julie Brown from San Diego Insurance Staffing; and Cathi Marx from Aspen Risk Management, who ran a continuous power point promoting our sponsors and pictures from 2009.
Our holiday theme held true- We were all angels that day by giving our time, money, and donations to charities. We even had donations from our members for the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and Animal shelter. Christine Hartline and CEO Jim Silveria attended the party to explain that they provide temporary housing for the animals of battered women so that they have a place to take their animals while they are in a shelter. We had speakers represented by each charity. From the YMCA we had Carol Ann and CEO Heather Finley and Antoinette Fallow from Rachel's Women's Center that gave us a heartfelt update of their situations and specific needs.
You may continue to give to these charities by dropping off items listed at their centers.
Happy New Year!

Did you Know?
Here are some interesting tips found on the web
INUMBER.COM
If you would rather not hand over your phone number to a potentially creepy Craigslist seller or a questionable website- but you do want that great deal, log onto this site, which creates a free, automatically expiring number that will forward calls to your phone.
Here are 8 things that you can do directly in the Google Search field at www.google.com
Perform Calculations
To figure out what a 15% tip is or what is 15% off the price of a $40 shirt- enter 40x.15 into the search field and click search and the answer will show up at the top of the results page.
Convert measurements
How many cups equal a liter> Simply type "cups in liter". You can also find out currency conversions "15 dollars in euros"
Track flights
Find out if your flight is on time by entering your airline and flight number.
Locate packages
Hunt down a delivery by entering "track" plus the tracking number for a direct link to the status page.
Look up addresses
Type in a person's home phone number and if they are listed, Google will turn up the mailing address.
Find movie showtimes
Type "movies" plus your city or ZIP code to see theaters and showtimes for the next three days.
Listen to Songs
Type the title of a song and its artise and a playable file will appear at the top of the results page.
Narrow down info
Use a hypen in your search. Example: You want information about jaguars - the animal, not the car or sports team. Place a hypen before terms that you want to exclude and it willmoit pages with those words. Type in jaguar -cars -football. The paid ads may still come up for cars but your animal sites will be closer to the top. . |
